   PRINTING & STATIONARY DEPARTMENT   

The Sikkim Government Press installed as early as 1914 have been upgraded simultaneously to cope up the various printing jobs of the State Government. The Press is now equipped with offset printing facilities along with other infrastructure and has been manned by about 148 personnel. The department on doing this work earns revenue of about a crore annually.

The prime important printing jobs of the State Government which lies in the responsibility of the Government Press are as follows:-

1. Printing of ballot papers and other stipulated forms during the election.

2. Sikkim Government gazette.

3. Sikkim Herald in six different languages .

4. Annual budget document.

5. Prepaid petrol coupons and bus tickets .

6. Booklet on audit report.

7. Sikkim Legislative Assembly’s committee report.

8. And all others established stationery of the State Government.

However, the various department have been requesting for their colour printing jobs also which the State Government Press do not have such facilities. Therefore, in the event of colour printing works the jobs is to be done from private Press on competitive basis. In order to make the requirement of colour printing works, the State Government Press has prepared a project report on up gradation and modernization of the existing infrastructure at a total cost of Rs. 24 Crores.
