Tashi Namgyal
Academy (TNA): Established
in 1926 as ‘Nepali-Bhutia School’, TNA presently has
strength of 1747 students from Nursery to XIIth standard. The
School is run by the Board of Directors and has been affiliated
to Council for ISC Examination, Delhi. Mr. S.K. Srivastava is
its Principal and has 75 teaching staff. 100% and 92% was the
pass percentage of last year board examinations for class X and
Class XII respectively. Besides studies, its students are ahead
in sports and other extra curriculum activities.
Holi Cross School:Situated
at 6th Mile, Tadong, Holi Cross is
one of the most successful missionary schools in Sikkim.
Sister Elsit as its Principal the school has a total strength
of around 1300 students with around 45 teaching staff. The
School was founded in 1985 and has classes upto 12th standard.
Joybells
School: Mr. Walia as
its Chairman and Mr. Varghese as its Headmaster, Joybells School
situated at Tadong, Daragaon has a total strength of 334
students with 16 teaching staff. The school was established in
1984 and recently affiliated with the ICSE Board. Just now it
has classes from Nursery to Tenth standard. Army wives are the
major feeding elements of this school and the authorities accept
this saying that the founders of this school are from Army
background. Due to non-availability of satisfactory space, the
school is facing some problem in outdoor sports like football.
Children’s Preparatory
School (CPS): With classes upto 5th standard CPS is situated above Ranipool at Samdur and has
a total of 160 students and 9 teaching staff. It was established
in 1980 as a missionary school by its founder and present
Principal Mrs. Choden L. Paljor. The Principal claims this
school as one of the cheapest school entirely focussed to
impart quality education to the children of lower and middle
class families. This school holds the record of becoming
the first private school that established 22 years ago at
Ranipool.
Army School:
Run
by an experienced Principal, teachers and Army Officers. Army
School situated at Libing, New Cantt was established in 1975
with an aim of giving quality education to the children of the
army personnel posted in Sikkim at an affordable price.
Considering the requirement of the local population, the school
has opened admission to the civilian children too. Having more
than 550 students, the school has classes upto Xth standard. The
school is affiliated with the CBSE Board and is a member of Army
Welfare Education Society (AWES), New Delhi. Besides studies it
facilitates its children in various other extra curricular
activities.
Sa-Ville-Row
Academy: The school is
situated at Deorali and was founded by Mr. P.K Prathapan in
1995. The school has a total strength of 200 students and has
classes from nursery to five with ten teaching staff. The School
is giving free education to 15 children and other 15 children
are studying here paying only half fees. The school lacks its
own land and school building. The school has applied for the
affiliation but has not been granted so far.
Mount Deepam
School: Established in
1995 by Johny Kutty. C.J who is also the Principal of the
school. The total strength of the school is 300 and has been
affiliated with C.B.S.C Board in 2000. The school has 12
teaching staff and 4 non-teaching staff. Active participation on
extra curricular activities such as sports is the priority and
its promotion among children.
